FIT DEVELOPMENT

FROM MARKET REFERENCE TO OUR FIT DEVELOPMENT

This silhouette has been one of the most commercially successful and consistent denim styles in the market over the past few seasons.

I used this proven fit direction as a foundation and developed our own versions by refining proportions, construction, and fabric choices to fit our brand’s direction.

FINAL DESIGN DIRECTION

MARKET RESEARCH

Based on this proven market direction, I used the straight and pull-on fit as a foundation and developed our own versions by refining proportions, construction details, and fabric selections to align with our brand’s direction and customer needs.

In-depth market research was conducted on straight-fit and pull-on jeans across various brands and market segments, focusing on best-selling styles, fit proportions, customer needs, and commercial performance.
The findings from this research directly informed the fit direction, design decisions, and development strategy of this project.

FABRIC DEVELOPMENT

After evaluating each fabric based on stretch, softness, and cost, selected fabrics were approved and organized into one CAD layout for efficient comparison and development reference.

PROCESS

  • Fabric development was conducted in close communication with mills and factories throughout the process.
Various fabric qualities and color options were selected and reviewed, with careful evaluation of softness, stretch, and compatibility with pull-on silhouettes.

  • Fabrics were finalized based on overall performance, fit intention, and alignment with the brand’s aesthetic and functional needs. Approved color options were reviewed, selected, and organized to support a cohesive and commercially viable denim assortment.

  • Finalized fabrics were cut into swatches and continuously updated into CAD layouts, with detailed documentation including pricing, factory information, fabric content, and washing methods for development and reference
